About The Friends

Distinctive architectural details define Cwrt Farm Pembrey, the largest surviving pre-Renaissance manor house in Carmarthenshire as an historical and cultural landmark worthy of restoration.

Thomas Lloyd, (The Lost Houses of Wales, 1986.) said of Cwrt Farm:

The largest pre-Renaissance survivor in the county......rich in corbels, tall chimneys, mullioned windows and carved stone fireplaces

Cwrt Farm has been an integral part of the cultural, political and social framework of Pembrey since early in the 14th century. Today, though apparently derelict, structural surveys show the remaining structure to be viable for sensitive restoration.
